Q: Do I need to bring anything special with me? A: If you have a portable sewing machine bring it along. We do have a few machines for members to use at our monthly meetings, but we sometimes it's easier to use a machine your already comfortable with. Crochet hooks and knitting needles are also welcomed items. Of course, your more than welcome to bring along anything other tools you'd like. Q: Do I need to pay for anything at the meetings? A: Generally speaking there is no need for you to bring any money to the meeting. Occasionally we do offer special kits at cost, but will let you know beforehand when there available. Q: What about refreshments? A: The members take turns bringing morning refreshments and everyone usually brings their own lunch. There is a kitchen with a refrigerator to keep our food. There are also a few local fast food establishments close by. On special occasions we do pot luck or provide a luncheon. Again, we'll notify you of when this is going to happen. Q: Do I already need to know how to crochet, knit or sew? A: No, not at all. There are many here who would love to assist you with learning a new skill. Q: Where do I park? A: There is ample parking available at the church. Q: What about my younger children, can I bring them along? A: Sorry, but we are not equipped to offer childcare. Q: Are there any men in your group? A: As a rule they tend to shy away from sewing women, but we do have a dad who attends with his daughters on occasion. Q: What's the youngest a child can be to participate? A: Our preference is JR HIGH aged girls and older, but we are willing to try anyone once. Q: Do I have to be there the whole time? A: We meet from 9:00 o'clock in the morning and are here until 5:00 o'clock in the evening for the convenience of our members. If you wish to only attend for a few hours that's fine with us. We love seeing you no matter the length of time. Q: What should I do when I first arrive at the meeting? A: When you first arrive at our meeting there is a table for you to sign in at and to fill out a slip for our door prize drawing. (You don't need to be present to win.) We have a separate basket and drawing for the girls. We ask everyone to wear a name tag. If you belong to a guild and have a handmade name tag bring it along to share and inspire others. After that take a look around and we're sure by now someone will have greeted you and they will let you know what to do next. |
